According to the lighting function, the outdoor landscape lighting can be divided into general lighting and partial lighting. For lighting designers, in order to make better use of light to create aesthetics, one of the first questions to be aware of is whether LED floodlights belong to local lighting.

A typical LED illuminator is usually placed evenly above or on the side wall of the work area to illuminate the entire work surface. Generally, the illumination lamp has high requirements on the distribution of light, and the two types of light distributions of direct illumination type and semi-direct illumination type are widely used, especially the latter. LED floodlights are used in semi-direct lighting types, where a portion of the upward illuminating light illuminates the ceiling, which increases the brightness of the ceiling and creates a more comfortable and brighter environment.

LED floodlights are mostly used for local lighting, in order to improve the illumination of a certain working part. Its function can be to strengthen and supplement the lighting on the basis of general lighting, or in some places that do not need lighting (such as equipment maintenance and maintenance places) as temporary lighting. Most of their light distribution is not strictly regulated. Sometimes, in order to meet the needs, some tall buildings also use LED floodlights for local illumination.
